Fire Code Inspector I

The Fire Code Inspector I is an entry level position responsible for conducting Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) inspections within the City of Colorado Springs. This role focuses on evaluating structures and surrounding properties for compliance with WUI codes and standards, including assessment of structure hardening features and verification of proper fuels management and defensible space. The inspector works directly with property owners, contractors, and community members to ensure wildfire resilient construction practices and vegetation conditions, supporting the department’s mission to reduce wildfire risk and enhance community safety in WUI areas.
